Rabbi Regina Sandler-Phillips holds master's degrees in
social work and public health, and has served as a
chaplain and educator in a range of acute and long-term
care, hospice and community settings. She was ordained
by the Academy for Jewish Religion, the
transdenominational rabbinical and cantorial seminary in
New York City where she now serves as adjunct faculty,
teaching in the areas of applied ethics and professional
skills.
Rabbi Sandler-Phillips has previously served pulpits
in New Hampshire, on Long Island, and in nearby Astoria.
She works primarily through Ways of Peace Consulting and
Educational Services, offering spiritual counseling and
direction, support for life cycle transitions, planning
and technical assistance, interfaith guidance, mediation
services, ritual skills training, and related
educational programming. She is completing the
manuscript for her book SACRED UNDERTAKING: Jewish Acts
of Kindness with the Living and the Dead.
Rabbi Sandler-Phillips was honored for her work in
the post-9/11 disaster relief—along with the chief
rabbinic chaplains of the NYC Police and Fire
Departments—at the 2002 General Assembly of the United
Jewish Communities / Federation of North America. Her
work has also been featured in The Jewish Week, The
Forward, and Newsday.
